Fall So Far…’09

This year, fall began with a bang and then slowly calmed down for a brief rest before all the holiday craziness. On the first official day of fall we had our family over for a fall themed dinner. I made my first ham, glazed with a brown sugar and brown mustard, as well as green beans, creamed corn, cranberry sauce, squash casserole, and biscuits that were topped off with homemade apple butter and pumpkin butter. For dessert I put my own spin on a couple classics; apple-cranberry pie and pumpkin-candied pecan pie with toasted coconut whipped cream. All in all it was a delicious and and everyone had a great time being together and getting kind of a thanksgiving feast preview.
The next big event was our first big, out-of-state roadtrip as a couple. Whew, so fun but looooooong. That one deserves it’s own blog post altogether so i will only give the basics now. The first day we drove from Tampa to Atlanta, the next day from Atlanta to Chattanooga, next day was Chattanooga to Hilton Head Island, and then back to Tampa a day later. A word to the wise: if you are planning your first roadtrip, don’t try to see 4 states in 5 days…it’s way too much lol! Next time we will definitely choose one location and spend a couple days instead of trying to see the whole world in one day. It was fun though and we did do a lot of different things that were really neat to explore together. We came home with a seriously funny story about South Carolina but more on that in the roadtrip post (coming soon).
Also thrown in to the first part of fall were my bday, my PaPa’s bday, Grandparents day, Tim’s bday, Tim leaving for school, Maw’s Bday, Hayden’s bday and Halloween. Yikes! The fall season and December are crazy-go-nuts in my family. It all flies by so quickly but seems to last forever when you feel stressed about it. At this point we only have Thanksgiving and Black Friday to go…then comes December, whew, I could write a book about that month this year but for now I’m trying not to think about it haha!!
