Finding Out/Telling Michael

Ok, so here are the details on how I found out and how I shared the news with my awesome hubby.

Friday, August 27th, was the morning that I first tested and it came out positive. I wasn’t “feeling” pregnant that I knew of, although the fatigue of the past couple days began to make sense afterwards, but we were hosting my family for our “Fall Dinner” the next day so I thought it would be amazing timing if I was. So I took the test and then went in the livingroom and began chatting with my friend Rachel while I waited. Not expecting a positive result, I had pretty much forgotten about it for a few minutes until I glanced down and saw it out of the corner of my eye.

“Two lines?! Waait…do I really see two lines??? Holy cow…..”

/picks up cell phone and dials Rachel’s number

No answer…no answer again….no answer again….no answer again!?!

At this point I run back to the computer and start typing to her:

Me: answer your phone
NOW
please please please answer your phone!!!!!!!!
RACHEL BROWNLEE SGRO GO PICK UP YOUR PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OH MY GOSH i could be dying and you wouldnt even know it
ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

/Rachel picks up phone

Me: I think I’m Pregnant and I’m freaking out
Rachel: Did you take a test?
ME: Yes and there are two lines but the second one is really faint
Rachel: But there’s two?
Me: Yes
Screaming from both ends

After the the screaming died down, we started thinking about a neat way to tell Michael that night and settled on a scrapbook. So I went to 2 craft stores and got a medium sized, black leather book and some silver, jeweled baby stickers and a few pregnancy embellishments. I placed the silver baby stickers and jewels on the front of the book and added the positive test and embellishments to the inside page. Then, I wrapped the book in a white gift bag with blue striped paper and begged the clock to speed up and be 6:00pm.

Normally, Michael comes straight home after work but that day he had been invited to stay after for some gaming. That had never been a problem before, but today I needed him to come home before I exploded from panic and excitement. So I told him that I had a little surprise planned for him and asked him to skip just this once. He, being the awesome guy he is, said ok and that he would be home on time. I was so relieved….until he called to say he was stuck in horrible traffic….and then to say he had to stop and get gas….I thought I would die.

But he did eventually make it home and here’s how it went:

“So What is it?”
“Are you trying to tell me something?”“Yeah, I can definitely see the second line”“Whoa”“Whoa”“Yes, I’m really happy, babe”Then a few minute later came the funniest reaction picture to-date:Believe it or not, that was not posed! This was a few minutes later when we were getting ready to go out and get something for dinner because I had been too excited to remember to cook. I asked him to not change his clothes yet because I wanted to take our first “parents” picture. At that point he flipped out and said “WHOA! Parents!!!” and started pacing the livingroom When he turned back towards me I snapped this picture and now it is absolutely priceless!

Later the same night, we told our parents but that can be another post for later. This one is long enough already 🙂
