As I’ve already mentioned, our sweet Haven is cat-obsessed. She loves and adores any and every thing that has a kitty on it and is drawn to them in pet stores like a bee to flowers.
So, obviously, there was only one theme acceptable for her fourth birthday party; kitties! And at that party, we gave her a framed photo of a kitten that we had found at a local rescue that was soon to be her very own. It was a little gray female kitten who had a sweet tempurrrment (see what I did there? hehehe!) and would be ready to come home as soon as she was spayed.
When Nana asked Haven what she would name her kiten, Haven gave it a quick thought and then said “I’m going to name her…hmmmm…Sally!” I have no idea where that name came from, there’s no movie or book character that I can think of by that name, but it was adorable and it stuck.
The day after her party, on her actual birthdate, we went to meet sally at the foster home where she was staying. After spending a little bit of time in a side room so that Haven and Sally could be better aquainted, we could see that it was a good fit. Sally was calm and sweet and Haven just loved her.
After waiting for a couple weeks for Sally to make the 2lb weight minimum to be spayed and then recover, she finally came home last night. We met up with the foster mom, the representative of the rescue group and sweet Sally at Petco to finish up the adoption.
Now are you ready for this? The name of the rescue that we adopted her from was “Cat Haven” and guess what the name of the representative was…Sally!! We could not believe that little twist of fate! When the adoptive mom said that Sally would be at petco to finish the paperwork, I thought she was talking about the kitten! What are the odds of that?? Here’s a picture of Haven walking with Ms Sally of “Cat Haven” to grab a box of litter for our little kitten, Sally.
We brought Sally (the kitten, not the adoption agent) home and are keeping her in Haven’s room for a couple days until she is bonded and well adjusted to the house. I don’t think it will take long though, she is already allowing Haven to hold her and play with her. She really does have a very sweet and loving personality and I’m impressed with how calm she is, and Haven is fulfilling her new role as “kitty mommy” very well.
How puuuurfectly precious! So cool how the names were even preordained!
Such a beautiful tribute to your new family member! Haven is a real sweetheart, and SALLY is so very blessed to have found her “fur-ever” home with such a good “kitty Mama”????❤️????????????❤️
This is one of the sweetest stories, Sally the kitty sure is pretty, and very lucky to get a sweet mommy and new family!
