Everyone, please remain calm.

Oh my goodness. Please, people, calm down.

There is too much real stress in the world to create extra for the sake of having a platform to scream about. There are too many real issues that you are stealing the spotlight from with your imaginary offenses.

The Internet has been an amazing addition to society and can be used as a powerful tool for learning. The dark side, however, is that every single tiny little thing that somebody thinks can now be blasted around the world.

Yes, I do realize that I’m criticizing this problem by voicing my tiny and unimportant opinion on my blog. The irony is pretty clear. But be that as it may, here goes…

I was scrolling through the news, also known as Facebook, and a trending article caught my eye. It was about a well renowned woman in hollywood who had lost a large sum of weight and was now upset that people kept telling her how good she looked.

No, seriously, that was a problem to her and it made national news.

Her point was that she was beautiful and intelligent and valuable before and after the weight loss and that her body was hers alone to change how she saw fit. She felt that the added attention was inappropriate because it insinuated that she was less worthy of praise when she was heavier.

Now, it is not completely wrong to think that way. We all know that the press and hollywood and people in general put too much emphasis on physical appearance. But are you helping the issues by reversing it? And beyond that, ten out of ten Americans have attempted to lose weight or get in shape at some point in their lives. Therefore, we know by experience just how difficult it is to successfully shed those pounds of delicious Christmas dinners.

Are we really that out of line to acknowledge the insane amount of hard work and the fantastic payoff? Is it truly that insulting to have your success celebrated?

Again I say, please get over yourself and just calm down. If this is your biggest issue, you are a blessed person.

Get upset about our foster care system. Get upset about inequality. Get upset about our educational system. Get upset about the millions of people who are homeless. Get upset about the people around you who need the Lord. Get upset about something that is worth your energy.

As for the rest, please, just calm down.
