I wasn’t ready yet.
My scissors were out, the cape was on, the new kitten was nearby for support, the stage was set…but I wasn’t ready.
Haven had her very first ever hair cut tonight.
*sob*
The day was inevitably coming, but we had avoided it for 4 years. Her gorgeous strawberry curls, streaming down her back like a waterfall. Her hair has been her identifying trademark since she was tiny. As a toddler, it was so curly that she looked like an adorably copper Shirley Temple. As the hair grew, it grew out wavy but mostly straight. We have been avoiding cutting off those precious curls and protecting them with deep conditioner for 4 years. Unfortunately, hair doesn’t last forever, and it was growing dry and tangled.
She loves her hair and has even had nightmares about cutting it in the past. It has taken her a long time to consider giving it up as well.
Even as I was consoling her and telling her that I wasn’t going to take much off and she would always be beautiful no matter what, my hands were shaking.
My baby is growing up.
Ready or not, no matter what I do, she is growing up. I hate it.
And to make it worse, her siblings won’t stop growing either!! Laelynn moved out of my room this morning and is officially in the kid’s rooms side of the house. There are no more bouncers in my living room. The stroller is largely unused. The baby swing is in the attic. My babies are growing up.
Excuse me please, I need some chocolate therapy and hubby hugs.
Haven is a beautiful little princess!????
