Big Changes

My living room is cluttered with boxes, wall decor has been taken down, the purge of unnecessary junk has begun…can you guess what’s happening?

Yup, we’re MOVING!

Michael and I have moved 3 times in our married life and have been in our current house for five years. It’s been a great house for us to bring babies home to and we have enjoyed the privacy of single family home living. But the downside to this house is that it is not ours, it is a rental.

Renting has been a great fit for us and there are many benefits to renting as opposed to home ownership. The main reason for leaving our current situation is not dissatisfaction, we actually love this rental and our landlords are great. We are leaving this house with no complaints and will miss our neighbors and the rooms that we began our family in. Jonah was only 1 year old when we moved here and the girls have been here their whole lives. The space is open and we have personalized it with paint and decorations and put our own sweat and tears into making the backyard a great space for kids.

So why are we leaving?

As much as we have grown to love our first family house, it is not ours. It belongs to someone else and they are reaping the financial benefits of ownership while we are paying rent each month.

It’s time for us to invest in our and our kid’s futures and tackle home ownership.

We have worked diligently over the past eleven years and have paid off student loans and cars and babies and are now debt free and ready for a mortgage. Our financial goal now becomes paying off the house at an accelerated rate with the goal of being mortgage free at a relatively young age. With a home that is paid for, we will be better able to support and invest in our family and others in need.

While we do give as much as we can now, our vision and heart’s desire is to be financially stable and free to be a blessing to others. God has been extraordinarily good to us; our kids are healthy and happy, our families are supportive and loving, our marriage is imperfect but strong, we are so blessed.

So with a grateful heart, I am packing up all of my treasures and getting ready to move into a new phase and a new adventure.
