Sweet Sixteen

Wow, I can’t believe my baby sister is 16 years old. Isn’t she supposed to stay little forever?…guess not!

Lory was a surprise blessing to our family 16 years ago when I was 9 years old. Born the day before Mother’s Day, she was a 9lb bundle of red haired cuteness. We loved playing with her as a baby. She was always so little and fun to dress up and play with, very much like a living doll! Once she was talking, we learned the value of having a very adorable baby sister who had our daddy tied around her little finger. I remember us kids wanting pizza for dinner so we’d get Lory aside and say “Lory, you want pizza don’t you?” and she’d of course say yes, “go tell daddy!” We had too much fun with that one!

As she has grown now into a beautiful, talented and sweet teenager, we can no longer use her to get pizza but she is still a huge blessing to our family and the people around her. She plays piano for our church, has a heart for the Lord and is always willing to be a helping hand to anyone who needs it. Lory is truly as beautiful inside as she is outside.

This year was her very special “sweet sixteenth” birthday and mom had the great idea to throw her a surprise party at the church. She was under the impression that it was going to be a teen activity but when she showed up, the room was full of her friends and family ready to celebrate her day.

We all had a wonderful time and I hope she knows how special she is to so many people.
