Yup, it’s been a while…

So, the last time I wrote anything for this blog, I was 7 weeks pregnant with our first baby. That was about 3.5 years ago. So much has changed since then that I don’t really know where to start! I guess I will start with a headcount.

We are now a family of 4 and a half.

Michael and I are both members of the 30’s club (ugh).
Jonah is 3.5 years old and will be 4 on May 6th.
Haven, our daughter, is 20months and will be 2 years old on May 28th.
And we have a brand new little little bun in the oven who will be due in October of this year.

We have moved into a house that we rent in Meadowpointe that has a nice, little yard and more open space for my minions to run around.

Chloe, Cupid, Ebony and Jack are all still with us. Cupid is getting quite old and slow and fat, Chloe is still my little shadow who believes herself to be the princess, Ebony is still ruling the roost and mothering everyone and everything, and Jack is still the poor, paranoid weirdo.

Day to day life is pretty busy and fast paced but fun and never dull. I still love cooking, my heart will always belong in the kitchen, but now I have little hands that need my focus so my adventures in cooking have taken a slight backseat. Though I do enjoy having a family that I get to cook for every night.

Michael has changed jobs and works in Westshore now at a office called Cornerstone Consulting. He is still rocking the tech world with his mad, nerd, super-skills. He has also recently recommitted himself to fitness and health and is working on changing his diet to be more lean and clean and is following the T-25 workout program. Super, super proud of him.

As for me, my life is wrapped up in my littles and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I started and was successful in building a cupcake buisness called “Jonah’s Babycakes” when Jonah was about 3 months old and I enjoyed it very much. We had the opportunity to run our little business out of our home and sell at the outdoor Saturday Market at Ybor. We met a lot of amazing people and made some awesome friends (love ya, Jordan Crafting and Happy Baker!) and had a lot of fun. We were honored to cater a beautiful wedding, make custom orders for events, and even earned 2nd place among long-established bakeries in the Tampa Bay 2012 Cupcake Festival. We had a blast and loved every minute of the challenge but our family soon realized that with an active toddler and a second baby on the way, the business needed to take a back burner for now.

Starting my own buisness and finding success in it will be something I am always proud of and one day I would like to do it again, but for now, my life is full and complete without it. I think proving to myself that I could do something that out-of-the-box and brave was something I needed to do for myself at that time. Now, I know I can; and I know I have. Closing it was not a difficult decision for me and, while it may look on the outside like I sacrificed my dreams and success to be a lame mom, I have followed my heart in both directions and am perfectly content in my life. Being a mom is everything to me at this point in my life and I wouldn’t change a thing!

So, here’s to the past, may it teach us and change us.
Here’s to the present, may we embrace it and live it.
And here’s to the future, whatever it may hold!
