The Best Valentine’s Day EVER

Every Valentine’s Day Michael absolutely rocks at being the best valentine a girl could ask for. The first Valentine’s Day we had “together” was only a couple weeks after we met again at church so we weren’t dating yet. Still, he made me feel special by sending me a valentine via email that he made himself.

The next year we were engaged and he was going to be flying out on the 14th on a work trip to Dallas. You would think that since he was busy working and we were going to be married the next month, that he would slack and just do a card. Nope, not my Michael! Before Valentine’s day, he took me out to see “The Pink Panther” and gave me a beautiful pink heart ring that was also to serve as my “right hand ring” on our wedding day! But he didn’t stop there, on Valentine’s Day, he met me for a quick lunch before his flight at Panera where he surprised me by getting there early and setting up a beautiful table with roses. I know, he is totally amazing!

The next 2 years were also made special with my first Willow Tree piece, chocolates, roses, a trip to see “The Pink Panther 2”, and other fun surprises. Each year for him, I have cooked a special dinner and dessert and done small gifts and cards.

All those years were wonderful…but this one tops them all.

This one started with a rare shopping trip to Ross and a cute pink dress to wear to church (since Vday fell on a Sunday this year). Then there were the BEAUTIFUL ruby red tulips which he gave me because he knows me so well. Roses are pretty but common on Vday and I have a secret obsession with tulips, they are just so elegant. Then there was a really touching card (he’s always good at those), a second Willow Tree piece that I had been wanting for a very long time, a cute balloon and dark chocolate mints.

What made this year the best wasn’t all the presents, although let’s be honest, they are really fun too! What made this year awesome is the fact that we spent the whole day together. We went to church together, we cooked lunch together (of which there will be a post via Michael soon, he’s still working on it), we took a nap together (a rare luxury), and played Wii Mario Kart together. I would rather spend a day at home with my best friend than just about anything else in the world.

We had a really wonderful time and the only thing I would change is that there should be more than 24 hours per Valentine’s Day!!! Love you Baby!!!

  1. i love it! the dress is so cute/elegant. I agree, roses schmoses but tulips are lovely! it’s what you would have carried at my wedding had they been in season. 😉

we rarely celebrate Vday because it falls right around andrew’s bday and our anniversary, but your notes are inspiring…maybe next year…
