Date Night at the Strawberry Festival

This has been a really busy week already and it’s only Wednesday!! Sunday was spent at church and the Arts Festival and last night we were at the Strawberry Festival!! Tuesdays are supposed to be our date night anyways but that usually entails a simple movie night or joint grocery shopping and nothing very spectacular.  However last night was a bit different.

I had entered my first ever beading contest at the festival a couple weeks ago and was awarded with a second place red ribbon. We hadn’t planned on going to the festival this year because of the cost but Michael surprised me (because he is awesome!) and took me there to see my pieces on display and have some fun together. Isn’t that so sweet?! I don’t deserve the husband I got but I’m so thankful for him. I always wanted to marry my best friend so that there would be a balance of gooey-lovey-doveyness and playfulness in our marriage. I am so blessed!

So we spent the evening enjoying a corn dog and chocolate dipped strawberries for me and a steak sandwich, burrito, and ice cream for him. It was really thrilling to be there and enjoy the fair atmosphere and see all the crafts on display. The Withrow ladies killed in the competitions this year. My mom got a blue ribbon on a doll’s dress and a Grand Champion (which means it was judged to be the best sewing project out of all the categories) on the matching little girls dress, Lory got a red ribbon for her pumpkin bread, and I got a red ribbon for my necklace/bracelet set. Not bad, huh?

We ended the night with Southern Star Bluegrass (a tradition) and a couple geocaches on the way home for Michael. It was one of the best date nights ever and I can’t thank my awesome hubs enough for taking me there even after a full work day. I really married the best man in the world and I am so proud to be his girl <3

  1. Yay!!! That looks like so much fun. That makes me miss FL! Nobody does the Fair or Strawberry Festival like good old Tamps! I’m so proud of you for getting 2nd place, you deserved it. And congrats to your mom too! You Withrow ladies really distinguished yourselves this year. 🙂 And to think that i’m the best friend of a ribbon winner!
